Sarah Palin is considered by Conservatives as the heir to Ronald Reagan. She is hailed as the “Reagan in a skirt”. She is the top contender in the field of 2012 Republican Primary Presidential candidates.

Sarah Palin definitely has the honesty and integrity, one that is tough to find in any politician these days. When it comes to waking the talk, no other politician can come anywhere close to her. She sticks to her principles, and doesn’t go with the wind. She demonstrated that again by endorsing Delaware’s Conservative Christine O’Donnell for the Republican Senate primary race, instead of endorsing veteran “Liberal Republican” politician Mike Castle.

Mike Castle is the longest serving US Representative in Delaware’s history. He served in the State Senate from 1968 to 1976. He was the Lieutenant Governor of Delaware from 1981 to 1985. He was the Governor of Delaware from 1985 to 1992.

Mike Castle had the best chance of winning the Delaware Senate seat for the Republicans in November 2010 Senate elections. He scared the Democrats to the extent that Vice President Joe Biden’s son, who was planning to run for the Senate seat, changed his mind when he saw the poll numbers that Mike Castle will defeat him handily in November.

Conservative icon and highly principled “walk the talk” Tea Party queen Sarah Palin decided to put her principles before smart strategy, and came out and endorsed Christine O’Donnell against Mike Castle in the Republican Primaries held yesterday.

Sarah Palin saw that Mike Castle supports Obama’s Stimulus plan, and “Cap and Trade” programs. Sarah Palin recognized the fact that Mike Castle doesn’t favor repeal of controversial Obamacare. Sarah Palin saw a liberal in Mike Castle, a guy who doesn’t agree with any of the Conservative principles whatsoever. Sarah Palin came out fighting for Conservative Christine O’Donnell, and against “Liberal Republican” Mike Castle.

Sarah Palin means a lot to middle class Republicans. She is highly revered by Conservatives and Tea Party members. Thanks to her strong backing, Christine O’Donnell defeated Mike Castle in what could be described as a huge and shocking upset yesterday.

GOP needs to win a net of 10 seats to take over the Senate from Democrats in November 2010. Delaware Senate seat was one of the 10 that GOP could have won.

But thanks to Sarah Palin’s decision to stick with principles rather than smart strategy, GOP just lost the chance of taking over the Senate in 2010 November elections. Pollsters had found that Mike Castle had the best chance of winning against any Democrat in November 2010 elections. Pollsters had found that Sarah Palin backed Christine O’Donnell had no chance whatsoever to win against Democrats in liberal Delaware.

On the outside, it may look like Sarah Palin just hammered the final nail on the coffin, and made sure GOP cannot take over the Senate from Democrats, in November 2010.

But a deeper analysis will show that Sarah Palin made the right call.

One can ask the question - what is the purpose of having Mike Castle in the Senate? What good does it do to the Republicans to send him to the Senate.

Mike Castle is going to vote against repeal of Obamacare. He is going to vote for Obama’s “Cap and Trade” agenda. He is going to agree with Obama’s Stimulus programs. He is no different from a Democrat, he is a one hundred percent “Republican In Name Only”, even more liberal than the moderates like Mitt Romney and John McCain.

Having Mike Castle in the Senate is as good as having a Democrat in the Senate. And Sarah Palin just used common sense, stuck with her principles, and did the right thing after all.

The pollsters, just a few days ago, gave Christine O'Donnell zero chance in winning against Mike Castle in yesterday's Primaries. She proved that the pollsters were wrong. Who knows, she could prove them wrong again in November 2010.
