Delaware River Port Authority solicits Dem donations

Jack Wagner is on the case.

The Pennsylvania Auditor has largely been ignored in the media after his Philadelphia Inquirer-endorsed unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign last Spring: even after he said the Keystone State's Megan's Law website gets a "C-" grade at best.

Wagner is back in the news now, though.

The Vice Chairman of the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) - Jeffrey Nash - sent out e-mails on a DRPA list to solicit votes for Dan Onorato - "The Democrat for Governor", as Onorato calls himself. Yes, he went panhandling for campaign contributions on a taxpayer-funded computer to contact taxpayer-paid officials.

Nash is no stranger to wasting the City's money and breaking the law. It was recently discovered that he let his daughter use his taxpayer-paid-for EZ Pass for a year and a half. She was totally getting her nails done and going out to buy the latest "Twilight" drivel on your dime.

The kicker is that Nash didn't check his mailing list before hitting the "Send" button and one of his beggar e-mails landed in the inbox of Rob Teplitz. Rob is the chief council at - you guessed it - the Auditor General's office. Who would have loved to hear that water cooler conversation in the morning?

Sadly, there allegedly wasn't a water cooler conversation. Teplitz - in a typical bros before ho's fashion - didn't bring up the e-mails until after the Primary. With all of the media attention on Onorato's opponent, Republican Tom Corbett, and Corbett's penchant for bending the rules - surely Onorato would come down and at least chastise someone? Even more importantly, would Teplitz want to do taxpayers a favor and stop this immense waste before it went any further? Nope, he didn't want to hurt his fellow Donkeys.

Oh - and - not a peep from Dan The Man, yet. It's doubtful Onorato, a Mafioso puppet of Unions, would want to get his hands dirty in this DRPA scandal when one of the Vice Chairman's nemesis is DRPA Commish and electrical union leader John Dougherty.

It's amazing how Liberals criticize guys like Tom Corbett for being embroiled in scandal yet don't want to "hurt their own" and wait until a Primary is over. Teplitz said he waited because he believes in "good government" but isn't good government reporting someone's malfeasance right away - since, of course, these kinds of actions are hurting taxpayers?

We do not pay the salaries of these idiots on these unnecessary boards and commissions to send out e-mails in favor of one person or another, on the taxpayer's time and dime. If any number of us were sending out pro-Tea Party or GOP or Libertarian e-mails at our jobs, wouldn't we be seriously reprimanded - if not fired?

It is a bit comforting to know that Wagner is on the case. While all of his ideals aren't the smartest in the world, he seems like an older-school Democrat who cares about idiocy like this going on. Too bad most of his reports are met by his cohorts and the media as "Yeah, ok Jack, get back to work, Mr. Wagner" and that's it. It's doubtful that Wagner knew this was going on and he was even betrayed by one of his own in favor of party politics over principles of the people.

Shame on the DRPA, shame on Wagner's subordinate, even shame on John J. Dougherty - a Union head - for criticizing someone else for shady behavior.

Like other "investigations" - like the one into Philly's book czar - this one will surely fall to the wayside when the public, the sheep and the media focus their minds and efforts on something else. The Keystone State has some of the most corrupt political actions in the country and it's time we just stop sitting here and taking it, over and over again.
