A comprehensive voter's guide to Michele Rollins! In an effort to remain objective to all candidates, most of this information will be posted directly off of Michele Rollins for Congress. Each candidate will be given the same luxury. Michele Rollins is the Republican nominee for House of Representatives.
According to her website, "Michele enrolled in Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, receiving her undergraduate degree in 1965. She was one of only seven women in her class at Georgetown Law School. After earning her law degree, Michele was awarded an LL.M in Taxation. Today, Michele’s ties to the Georgetown community remain strong and she serves on the Board of Visitors. Michele’s professional career began at the Securities and Exchange Commission, and then continued at the U. S. Department of Justice as a trial attorney in the tax division. In 1972 Michele joined the newly formed Environmental Protection Agency, and later served in the Federal Energy Office during the Middle East oil crisis, and U. S. Department of Interior. Leaving government service, Michele joined a Fortune 500 company as Associate Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In 1977, Michele married Delaware entrepreneur and philanthropist, John W. Rollins. Along with raising their four children, Michele and John embarked on a visionary project: developing Rose Hall, a historic plantation in Montego Bay, Jamaica into a tourist destination."
"At the University of Delaware’s Department of Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management, Michele chairs the Advisory Board, overseeing several initiatives including the expansion of career opportunities for Delaware graduates. As a trustee of Goldey-Beacom College, she has fostered the college’s efforts to provide financial resources for deserving students, giving many Delawareans the opportunity to earn a college degree. A Lifetime Partner of the Horatio Alger Association, Michele supports the organization’s national mission to provide college scholarships to exceptional students. In Delaware, she continues the special legacy of her late husband that funds five new Horatio Alger Scholars annually. Working with Brother Ronald and the late Dolores Alfano, Michele helped expand the outreach of the Ministry of Caring by providing a day-care center for welfare mothers entering the job market. In addition, she organized the annual fund raising effort to support Hope House I, the Ministry’s shelter for abused women. Michele served as Chair of the Beebe Foundation for the Medical Center in Lewes. Under her leadership, the Beebe Foundation provided the capital that enabled the Medical Center to modernize and improve its facilities and expand services in Sussex County. Michele serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau and The Advisory Council for the Delaware Children’s Theatre. As Miss USA, in 1964 Michele represented the United States in the Miss USA-World Competition in London. Michele is a member of the Delaware State Bar, the Pennsylvania State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the United States Court of Appeals and is admitted to the U. S. Supreme Court." Michele recently resigned from the Wilmington Trust Board in order to run for Congress.
