A night that figures to consist mostly of bad news for Democrats started off well when they held on to Delaware's Senate seat and picked up its lone House seat.
Shortly after the polls closed at 8 p.m. ET, New Castle County Executive Chris Coons was projected to win the Senate seat formerly held by Vice President Joe Biden, defeating Tea Party darling Christine O'Donnell.
In the House election, John Carney easily defeated Glenn Urquhart, flipping the House seat that Rep. Mike Castle had for 18 years before mounting his ultimately futile run for the Senate this year.
