What do Kennesaw State University (KSU) and Harvard University have in common other than both being institutions of higher learning? Both universities host illegal alien students.
According to Campus Progress (a project of the Center for American Progress) and the Boston Globe, Harvard University student Eric Balderas was detained while trying to board a flight from Texas back to Boston. He used his Harvard student identification and Mexican consular card. He lost his passport from Mexico and was ordered to appear in court for possible deportation.
The Boston Globe reported that reports of Mr. Balderas's potential deportation "triggered international outcry, support from Harvard officials, a Facebook page with more than 5500 people lobbying for him," and Senator Durbin (D-IL) lobbying on his behalf. According to reports, Mr. Balderas was brought to the US at the age of 4; he is now 19 years old.
ICE has granted a deferral to Mr. Balderas which allows him to remain in the US for the duration of the deferment.
If this sounds familiar, it is. Several months ago, Jessica Colotl, a KSU student was discovered to be an illegal alien. She was touted as the poster child for the illegal immigration debate. Ms. Colotl was also issued a deferment from ICE to complete her studies at KSU. She, too, was brought to the US when she was a child (11 years old).

At the heart of this conflict is the intentionally interjected distortion that the Law is about mercy.
The Law, in order to be just, can never be merciful (that's what Juries are for).
The law must be applied exactly the same in every case with every person or it is not just.
If it is not just, then it is not worth having.
No one would be questioning the fates of these criminals if they had robbed a house or shot a person.
But since the enemies of objective law in Washington and the media have clouded the issue with misplaced sympathy and contrived cruelty, it is now a circus.
This young man is in America ILLEGALLY. Its just that simple. And believe me, if he was guilty of a crime that contradicts the agenda of the Socialis-statists in Washington, he would be just another unsung criminal.
Instead he is the poster child for all the other criminals in America that the Obamatrons want to illegally induct into the ranks of Democratic drones.
The citizens of Georgia have worked our phones and sent emails for 2 days and shut down the phone lines and we have gotten the same thing we get from D.C., ignored. The University System has sent a clear message that they are above the law. If we don't fight this again and again, we will continually pay for the education of those who have crossed our border illegally and can not obtain employment when they have graduated. What a joke!
This is a very misleading article. They did not break any law by allowing Mr. Balderas to enroll. It is not the role of a university of enforce federal immigration law. I think the Examiner should publish a correction.
If this had been an illegal from Canada, he'd have been sent back within 24 hours and not allowed to enter the US for five years. Liberals/Democrats only parade 'poster' children that are hispanic what about all the Asian, Canadian, European illegals--We never hear democrats/liberals/progressives, discussing giving amnesty & special treatment to them. Perhaps becuz like Obama - they are bigots & racists as well!
Oh look -- just like I wrote prevoiusly -- A white, non hispanic couple who are in the US LEGALLY and have built a business, employed ppl, and live debt free are being deported - their visa extension is being denied by some dumb bitch. But lets keep the illegal hispanic in the country and pay for his education.Dems are Bigots. Hypocrites.Liars. Check out tiny.cc/us7os but add http in front of it
Sophie you hit the nail on the head! the system is broken . those that employee people are the good ones, not living on the public tit.
