As reported on the Los Angeles Galaxy official web page, Gonzales has been removed from the USMNT roster due to a hip injury.
Omar Gonzalez who was played every minute with the USMNT in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers will now miss the last two games.
The reason is due to a strained hip the defender suffered last weekend while playing for the LA Galaxy against Chivas USA. The Galaxy trounce Chivas 5-0; however, Gonzalez was removed from the game against Chivas during the halftime break.
Omar Gonzalez will remain with the LA Galaxy medical staff to receive treatment. It was not reported when Gonzalez will return to action.
The good news is that the USMNT has already clinched a ticket to the 2014 World Cup, so Gonzalez absence will not a huge factor.
The only thing that is bothersome is the fact is that Omar will need to stay consistent and missing games can throw a player off a bit, especially after coming back from injury.
Gonzalez was the MLS Defender of the Year in 2011 plus the 2012 MLS Cup MVP. A defender like that will not or should not miss the World Cup!
