2 Corinthians 12:9-10
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast [a]about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
Have you ever had a bad day? Maybe you have had a bad week, month or even a bad year. I think all of us have. There are times when it seems like no matter what we do, or how hard we try we feel constantly defeated. It’s almost as if we will never get the break we’re looking for. Even in the middle of your storm, remember one thing, you might be defeated but you are never out completely. If you will put your faith in God, he will give you the strength you need to keep on going one more time. Then he will give you the strength to keep going one more time, and one more time after that.
We will all face some type of hardship in our life. We could lose a loved one, or a job, and that at times can lead to a trickling effect of events. We miss the person we lost. We can struggle financially from the loss of the job. Our stress level goes up and depression can try to sink in. Sometimes depression can sink in very badly, and this can leave us feeling very, very hopeless and worthless. All of this can be turned around if we will just allow God to be our strength.
When times like this come into our life we need to stop looking all around us at what is going on and look up. We need to focus on what God is doing for us. He gives us strength to make it through if we will just allow him to do it. The storm may be rough, but if we will anchor ourselves in him, we won’t be moved across the waters.
What has you feeling defeated today? What has you asking “What next? What else can go wrong? When will I get a break?” Whatever has you feeling defeated today, look up and know that you are not out completely. If you put your faith and trust in God he will get you through it all. Not just today, but every day.
