Thursday Oregon Representative Peter DeFazio introduced a non-binding proposal to reject President Obama’s tax compromise, a proposal that received overwhelming support from the House Democratic Caucus.
"The Democratic Caucus resolves that in its current form the tax package should not come to the House floor for consideration."
“If you believe in supply side economics and trickle down, this is a great plan. I don’t. I think it’s been proven not to work. I think it’s a bad deal and poorly negotiated.
“I think the Republicans were bluffing and the President didn’t call their bluff. Were they going to go home for Christmas and cut off unemployment for millions of people who can’t a job? I don’t think so. I really don’t think they would have delivered on that threat. And if they did, shame on them and we could kill them with it.”
Rep. Shelley Berkley of Nevada was the only Democrat voting against the resolution. She says her constituents need the unemployment benefits.
