Deena Kastor and Kara Goucher will be in Philadelphia this September to run the Rock n' Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon. Kara Goucher's husband Adam ran the race in 2010 when she was pregnant with her son Colt, but this marks her first time running this race. “Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia is already a flat and fast course, but when you put phenomenal runners on the field like Deena and Kara, you get to witness some spectacular performances of speed,” said Tracy Sundlun, the co-founder of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.
Deena Kastor won the Philadelphia Distance Run in 2005, posting a 1:07:53, and this will mark her first time back to run this race. Kastor holds the U.S. women's record for the marathon (2:19:36) and half marathon (1:07:34).
Kara Goucher recently made a coaching switch and moved from Portland to Colorado to train with coaches Mark Wetmore and Heather Burroughs. Goucher has been recovering from a sacral stress fracture and this will be her first race back.
