Despite what Sony described as a large drop off in sales of the PlayStation 3, the PS4 rallied the platform holder’s game division to a rise in revenue of 64.6 percent, according to a report today from GameSpot.

According to the report, Sony didn’t specify how well the PS4 or PS3 performed individually, just that combined 7.8 million units of both were sold during last quarter.

During the International Consumer Electronics show in January, Sony did announce that they had sold 4.2 million units of the PS4 before the end of 2013. You can read that full Examiner report by clicking here.

Sony also said in its financial report that combined sales of the PSP and PS Vita amounted to roughly 2 million units sold, down from 2.7 million from 2012.

All in all, though, Sony’s game division saw an increase of 292.1 percent in operating income amounting to $172 million, contributing to the corporation’s overall revenue of $22.9 billion and profit of $257 in the quarter.
