Today, January 15, is National Hat Day and it is time to decorate your head, however you deem fit, to celebrate one of the most fashionable and functional accessories.
Although January 15 has never been legitimized through a Congressional vote as National Hat Day, the day itself has been honored by chapeau fashionistas and endorsed through The Headwear Association.
Hats have made an incredible fashion comeback thanks to events such as National Hat Day, The Kentucky Derby, The Belmont Stakes and inductions into The Headwear Hall of Fame, not to mention the popularity of headwear worn by cultural pop icons such as celebrities Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and Samuel L. Jackson.
Not sure which hat suits your cranium? The Headwear Association has some examples of popular chapeaus like the women’s cloche, his or her fedoras, skull caps, knit caps, fascinators, beanies, berets, slouchy knits or fur trappers to name just a few of the stylish headwear available for all.
Long Islanders looking to expand their hat collection or begin one, should try Burlington Coat Factory in Lawrence for its huge selection and affordable prices on headwear for men, women and children.
The day isn’t over yet, so as you head on out, make sure you have a hat covering your noodle in celebration of National Hat Day.
