Coolmore will be welcoming Declaration of War to its Fethard headquarters in Ireland following the stallion’s final race in the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Classic on November 2. He will formally retire after the race and begin his stallion career with the 2014 breeding season. His stud fee will be announced in the near future.
Bred in Kentucky by Joseph Allen, Declaration of War is by War Front out of Tempo West by Rahy.
Aidan O’Brien, in a Coolmore press release, said,
Declaration of War has danced every dance this season and will have one more run in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
He has an unbelievable constitution and is a lot like Giant’s Causeway, a big powerful, strong traveler, so we're hopeful that he'll run well (in the Classic).
The 4-year-old stallion has received a rating of 10-1 by the bookmakers for the Classic, behind Game On Dude’s 7-2.
Declaration of War turned in some really good races including the Eng-I Queen Anne Stakes, the Grade I Juddmonte International Stakes, Ire-III Diamond Stakes, Heritage Stakes, and several Group I races in England. He races for owners Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Joseph Allen. Declaration of War’s record is 7-1-1 out of 12 starts. His total earnings are $1,347,489.
Said Christy Grassick of Declaration of War, “He's a hugely exciting prospect."
