'Deception' premiere: Joanna must become a lie to discover the truth (Video)

The new television drama “Deception” has been overly criticized by its similarity to the show “Revenge.” However, there are definitely some differences between the two. According to Huffington Post on Monday, Jan. 7 Joanna goes undercover to find out who killed socialite Vivian Bowers.

Deception, which is another word for lie, is the term used for Joanna (Meagan Good) as she portrays someone else to infiltrate the wealthy Bowers family.

The Bowers family get their wealth from a pharmaceutical company owned by the family's patriarch Robert (Victor Garber) with his sons Edward (Tate Donovan) and Julian Bowers (Wes Brown).

One thing we know about wealthy families and television shows is that they're full of drama, deception, secrets and out right lies. Therefore, “Deception” is sticking true to tradition by creating a story line around a wealthy family with a surmountable number of issues.

The opening episode was filled with enough drama to keep you guessing about what would happen next.

The Bowers daughter Vivian is found dead her former friend and FBI agent Joanna goes undercover to discover what happened. Joanna is reconnected with her childhood sweetheart Julian Bowers and her FBI agent Will Moreno (Laz Alonso). The big moment in episode one comes when we find out that Vivian's little sister Mia (Ella Rae Peck) is actually her daughter.

There are also quite a few flashback scenes that try to take you through the Bowers and Joanna's sordid history and how they connect.

Don't listen to the critics, take a hour and watch “Deception,” you may be surprised at what you see.
