On December 21 2012 the ancient Mayan calendar will end, thus bringing on what some call the “End of the World.” Agents of Conscious Evolution such as Margaret Arndt choose to think of it as an opportunity to “cocreate a future of immeasurable possibilities.” (evolve.org/node/10) They call the 22nd of that month the “birth day of a universal humanity, a humanity who evolves consciously by choice to affect our future and its direction." “Throughout evolutionary history, crisis has preceded transformation,” says Ms. Arndt. She and the Boston Pagan Examiner discussed some of the crises facing the world and humanity today: hunger, poverty, environmental destruction, war. “Our crises are acting as evolutionary drivers pressuring us to innovate and transform,” says evolve.org/node/10. Ms. Arndt says we are now “at a pivotal point. All these crises are paving the way for our birth day, a day that will be an evolutionary signal for all of us to wake up, co-create humanity, and form a co-creative society never known before on Earth."
“Paganism honors the spirit of the earth. The conscious evolution movement is indeed about honoring all beings, including Mother Earth,” she says. “Spirit is everywhere and in everything: the trees, the rocks; the waters.... Spiritual practices such as Paganism heighten our connection and awareness to Spirit in all things. We’re all part of the Web of life. All our thoughts and actions affect the Web. We all therefore need to be conscious of our thoughts and actions and our inevitable affect on everything.”
Ms. Arndt also speaks about Essence, also called Source or Higher Guidance. “The Essence is the part of us that is able to heal, guide, and illuminate our being. In shifting from ego to Essence, the ego loosens its grip—its impulse to protect and control, and merges with Essence. The more we do this, the more we connect with what brings us joy.” She says this process will “guide our whole being into love and creativity and help us to transform our world into a harmonious one.”
