Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl, and their legion of home-grown heroes are back to pack an extra punch this holiday season in the superhero action-comedy film Kick-Ass 2. In this sequel to the 2010 film Kick-Ass and the second installment of the Kick-Ass film series, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse return for another action-packed, over-the-top round of extreme crime fighting, joined this time by Jim Carrey, Donald Faison, John Leguizamo and Morris Chestnut. Written and directed by Jeff Wadlow, it is based on the comic book of the same name and Hit-Girl, both by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr., and co-produced by Matthew Vaughn, the director of the first film.

After the events in Kick-Ass, young vigilante Dave Lizewski (aka Kick-Ass) is now a high school senior and still continues training to become a better fighter with junior assassin Mindy Macready (aka Hit-Girl), who lives with her new guardian Detective Marcus Williams (her father’s former partner). Following an evening of crime fighting for Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl, Marcus makes her give it up to lead a normal life and Kick-Ass, alone without his partner, joins the superhero team called Justice Forever -- a new wave of self-made masked crusaders who were inspired by Kick-Ass’ insane bravery. Led by former mafia hitman turned born again Christian superhero Colonel Stars and Stripes, it includes Battle Guy, Dr. Gravity, Insect Man, Night-B*tch and a husband-and-wife duo named Remembering Tommy after their son who disappeared. Together, they patrol the streets of the city and perform good deeds.

Meanwhile, Chris D'Amico (formerly Red Mist) has moved to Long Island and still seeks revenge against Kick-Ass for his father’s death. After accidentally causing his mother’s death, Chris reinvents himself as the supervillain called The Motherf**ker and swears vengeance against Kick-Ass. The Motherf**ker assembles his own evil league of super villains -- calling themselves the Toxic Mega C***s -- and leads an assault on Justice Forever and the city to make Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl pay, resulting in a police clampdown on costumed vigilantes and villains. As the masked crusaders are arrested one by one, Dave’s father takes the fall for Kick-Ass and ends up killed in jail by The Motherf**ker’s goons. Grief-stricken, Kick-Ass quits the crime fighting business until The Motherf**ker’s gang ambushes and kidnaps him at his father’s funeral. Hit-Girl comes to his rescue and together with the help of all wannabe superheroes, they fight to take down The Motherf**ker and the Toxic Mega C***s once and for all.

DVD and Blu-ray special features include feature commentary, extended scenes and three featurettes. In “Going Ballistic: Weapons & Stunts,” discover how the actors and stunt performers crafted the on-screen carnage as Armorer Damian Mitchell showcases the film's vast arsenal of weapons, from firearms to the Colonel's custom-made axe handle and the pink nunchucks wielded by Hit-Girl. Special-effects supervisor Sam Conway explains how the maelstrom of mayhem was created under the watchful eye of director Jeff Wadlow, second unit director Dave Reid and stunt supervisor James O'Donnell. And in “Creating A Badass World,” production designer Russell De Rozario, costume designer Sammy Sheldon and hair and makeup designer Fae Hammond collaborated very closely with Jeff Wadlow to create the heightened reality of Kick-Ass 2. Also learn how the multitude of unique and badass costumes were created and inspired the cast.
