Decapitated man found in Chicago on Christmas morning

Early Christmas morning, officers with the Chicago Police Department were summoned to the 2500 block of North Kildare Avenue, according to the Chicago Tribune early Wednesday morning. After arriving at the location in the Belmont Gardens neighborhood on the city’s Northwest Side, officers found a grotesque scene.

According to Amina Greer, a spokesperson with the Police News Affairs division, said that responding police officers found a decapitated man in a basement apartment at the scene. Police recovered a knife at the scene.

Additionally, an 18-year-old was found outside of the building and he was immediately taken into custody. It has not been reported how the 18-year-old and the decapitated man knew one another.

The police were called to the scene just after 2 a.m. when someone alerted police that there had been a murder. The investigation is continuing into the morning hours.

Reportedly, charges against the 18-year-old are currently pending.
