December 3 is Giving Tuesday, a time to help others in this quintessential season of giving. What better way to share with those in need than to help a sick child fulfill a dream to visit Walt Disney World?
If you're not familiar with Give Kids the World Village, it's a truly magical resort in Kissimmee. It acts as a home base for kids with life threatening illnesses and their families as they fulfill their wish for a vacation at Disney and the other area attractions.
The resort itself is also a destination, and it's a place where youngsters who face barriers and challenges out in the world every day can feel like they fit right in. Everything is wheelchair accessible, including the pool, playground, amusement rides, and even the horse-drawn carriage. Jump to this article for an overview of this amazing place.
I'm big on checking charity statistics at Charity Navigator, and I'm happy to say that Give Kids the World Village is highly rated and makes the most of every penny. Of course, I could see that for myself when I toured the resort, which has comfortable, well-equipped villas, places to eat, places to play, and even tuck-ins by characters at night.
If you'd like to contribute to this great cause on Giving Tuesday, here's the link. The goal is $50,000, and volunteers have stepped up to fulfill some interesting challenges posed by the wish kids. Click the video accompanying this article to see some of those challenges.
