Atlanta fashionistas, bystanders were doing double-takes as they saw American actresses Debra Messing and Uma Thurman in their Indian clothes as they were filming for their latest series Smash in New York City.
Debra Messing, 43, wore an elaborate green and gold sari, complete with a full necklace set including forehead ornament, earrings, necklace and bracelet as well as bejeweled Indian sandals, while Uma Thurman, 41, wore a fully embroidered hot pink shalwar kameez, comprised of a long tunic style shirt and baggy pants, and pink tourmaline and diamond necklace (real or not!), silver flats on her feet, and a black bra strap peeking from underneath!
Both actresses donned bindis on their foreheads to complete the Bollywood look.
Based on the life of Marilyn Monroe in a behind-the-scenes look at producing a Broadway show, Smash will be premiering Monday night on February 6 on NBC, following Super Bowl and is created by Theresa Rebeck and produced by Steven Spielberg, starring Anjelica Huston and British actor Jack Davenport.
Not sure how putting Debra Messing and Uma Thurman in clothes suitable for a Bollywood musical could have anything at all to do with Marilyn Monroe’s career and life, but yours truly is terribly intrigued by the possibilities…
