Debra Medina’s astonishing lift in poll results of likely Republican voters is causing unprecedented consideration in the Texas gubernatorial candidate primary election of March 2, 2010.
Tuesdays (February 9, 2010) survey by Public Policy Polling indicates that out of likely voters, Governor Rick Perry does not have the 50%+ votes needed to avoid a runoff election in April.
More surprising are results showing Medina has nudged closer to Perry’s 42%, by surpassing Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson by 25% to 23%.
If the GOP candidate was decided by Facebook friends on February 10, 2010, there would be a runoff election between Governor Rick Perry and Debra Medina.
Perry had 21, 896 total friends on his Facebook site at midnight Feb. 10.
Medina has exceeded Hutchinson with 16,444 facebook fans to the Senator’s 14,661.
With the recent election of Republican Scott Brown for the late Senator Edward Kennedy’s Massachusetts seat, more attention is being paid to Medina.
“After watching both (GOP televised) debates, I have changed my mind,” said San Antonian Connie Gonzalez. “I thought I was going to vote for Perry, but I want things to change for Texas.”
Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and most insiders dismissed Medina’s campaign for most of 2009. In July last year, Medina barely had 900 facebook supporters. Six months later the tireless candidate increased her count ten times over.
Many Texans and political analysts were surprised when a Rasmussen Report poll released on January 18 revealed a swing with likely Texas Republican voters in Debra Medina’s favor. The poll found these standings:
• Perry - 43 percent
• Hutchison - 33 percent
• Medina - 12 percent
• Not sure - 11 percent
There is a growing confidence that Medina, a Wharton nurse and Medical Claims consultant/businesswoman, could possibly cause a runoff between Perry and her. If no candidate gets 50 percent of the primary vote, the top two face off on April 13.
Medina received another boost in confidence when Independent Texans, the only voter association seeking representation and political rights for about 5 million non-aligned Texas voters, announced their endorsement of Medina last week.
Medina’s stance on eliminating property tax in Texas is a large factor in her growing popularity.
“We can fund necessary government services more efficiently and fairly using a broader based sales tax,” said Medina. “Eliminating property tax and deriving that revenue from a sales tax will mean a $3 billion increase in net personal income in Texas and will add 125,000-175,000 new jobs.”

Texans have woken up: SERFDOM or FREEDOM
Vote Medina!
Rick Perry has friends?
Everyone in my family will be voting for Medina. For the first time in our lives, we have a chance to throw the bums out without replacing them with another bum.
The primary responsibility of government is to protect our lives, liberty, and property. Debra Medina is the only one who will do that.
Hutchinson can't even answer a straight question. They asked for a yes/no answer to the question, "would you overturn Roe v. Wade. She absolutely refused to say yes or no. Regardless of your position, I'll bet most of us would be able to at least say yes or no, because we know what we believe in.
Perry wants to take the property of our fellow Texans with the Trans Texas Corridor and by fiat thinks he can medicate your daughters without parental consent. Where is the liberty in that?
Please vote for Medina.
Sure Perry has friends, the ones from establishment.
Here is the time to make a difference. Rick and Kay are the same o same o. Debra can shake things up. She is not part of the machine. It is time for "We the People " to take back our control. The clowns we have now have forgotten who they work for.
Debra Medina is the real thing.
It all starts with Texas vs Rick Perry.
Sarah Palin (who endorsed Perry) in October 2008 on video to a prominent 9/11 truth group said she supports another investigation into 9/11.
