The Consul General of France has announced Houston's recognition of French cultures month from March 8-25, to open on Friday with concert at 6:30 PM at Discovery Green. But for the members and friends of the Houston branch of Alliance Francaise, the celebration began Tuesday evening with the cheerful and brilliant performance by Deborah Boily at Cafe Brussels, at 1718 Houston Ave Tuesday March 5. Ms. Boily is has been an international cabaret performer for 30 years. She is equally comfortable in French and English and warmly communicates her profound understanding of the lives of the artists and their works while engaging the audience to join her in French choruses they may have learned only seconds before. She released her first CD 10 years ago with a repertoire of popular French and American popular songs from such as “My Foolish Heart 1949” to 1990's including the best-known of singers like Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel. See video clips of her renditions of “Ce n'est rien” and “Ne me quittte pas.”

Ms. Boily will be in Houston through May. We look forward to her next performance on May 8. For more on Ms. Boily see her site, The French Singer.
