Last night I had the pleasure of attending, what is now in my opinion, the hottest spot in Houston – Debonair Lounge. The atmosphere is mellow, sophisticated, and altruistic. The night was hosted by Tay Mitch and Brad Gilmore. To make the night even better they have a LIVE band. I didn’t know what to expect but I was impressed the second I walked in. On the bill were Bree Terry, Syd The Man, Lee-Lonn, Nic Greer and Jack Freeman. I haven’t been to a live show in awhile, so I was very excited to see what these artists would do with a live band. First up was Bree Terry, who kicked it off with some Lauryn Hill and yes she killed it. She also sung her new single “Slow Rydin’,” which is absolutely dope. This was my first time seeing Bree perform and she is a true entertainer. I rocked with her through her whole set!
Next up was Syd The Man. SYD THE MAN. Man he blew me AWAY!! Not only can he rap but also I’m sure he could sing the panties off of any woman. Yeah…Syd The Man.
By the time Syd finished his set I felt like the night couldn’t get any better but they were only two performances in. Then up walks Lee-Lonn. As I watched him perform I really thought the music actually took over him for a second. And I think he almost made a woman faint.
One of the biggest surprises of the night was Nick Greer. Last night was the first time I’ve heard his music. If you mix all the main genres of music together in a pot you would have Nick Greer’s music. I didn’t know one song but by the time he was done I was singing every last one.
Last was Jack Freeman. This was a great way to end the night. He is the epitome of Soul. I was little disappointed that he wasn’t able to perform more songs, but ecstatic with songs he did sing.
There were nothing but positive vibes the whole night. Throughout the night I spotted Kirko Bangz, Hoodstar Chantz, ShoStoppa, Broderick B, Prince Cannon and lots of other cool people.
If you are in Houston and you want to see the best that Houston has to offer socially and musically you have to drop by Debonair Lounge on Mondays!
