Deathly Hallows a fitting end to the Harry Potter era

In a little under two hours, a ten year saga was ended. The story of the boy wizard, Harry Potter, finally finished. The final installment of the film series was anxiously anticipated, yet the fact remained that millions of now young adults would be saying goodbye to their childhood friends from Hogwarts. Though the end is bittersweet, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 does not leave any Muggle fan disappointed.

In no other film series has the growth of child actors been as well documented as in Harry Potter. In this last movie, it is amazing to see the main actors Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione), and Rupert Grint (Ron) at the peak of their acting careers. The majority of the film was loaded with suspenseful, dark moments, therefore there was very little room for the usual Potter joke. Where there could be one slipped in, however, it was there, especially on the part of Grint. Considering the dark material contained in the movie, it was wondrous to see how each actor present in the film gave such convincing performances while battling Lord Voldemort. Whether it was in mourning, or in the middle of the battlefield, there was no doubt in the minds of viewers that they were in the thick of the movie.

In the world of special effects, there is a multitude of ways that the magic that is used in the Harry Potter can be achieved. The one aspect that jumped off the screen both in Deathly Hallows as well as the other films in the series was how effortless this magic appeared. In this latest adaptation, viewers were mesmerized by flying dragons, living statues, and giants. These elements are what Potter fans have become used to, yet for this particular movie, it was evident that animators took special care in making sure every detail from the book was accounted for.

Seeing as this was the final movie in the Harry Potter series, it was apparent that the script was given special attention as to include all important details. Due to this, the film was by far the most faithful adaptation of its book counterpart in the series. Granted, there were changes made in the film that were not present in the book, yet this did not hinder the film whatsoever. The changes, though slight, might be noticed by those that have previously read the books, however, this did not prevent there being not one dry eye in the audience in the final moments of the film.

For those that have read the Harry Potter books, seen the movies, and been with Harry every step of the way on his journey, the release of Deathly Hallows is truly their way of saying goodbye to their childhood. Seeing the Harry Potter characters brought to life on screen is what every fan could have ever dreamed, and it is apparent that not many are ready to say farewell to them yet.  As it has been said, however, all things must come to an end, and so must the Harry Potter saga. Though Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint will move on from their Hogwarts days, there are millions around the world that will always see them as the three wizards that the world fell in love with, and in this sense, Harry Potter will live on for generations to come.
