Tom Sparks, a contestant on ABC’s reality game show Wipeout died after suffering a stroke on the set of the show. The incident occurred while he was participating in the first segment of the obstacle course on October 19.

Tom Sparks (33) was rushed to hospital after complaining of knee pain and shortness of breath while competing on Wipeout's obstacle course. Doctors at the local hospital transferred him to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where doctors performed multiple brain surgeries to save his life. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful and Tom passed away on November 5th.

According to reports, Tom Sparks was found to be suffering from an undiagnosed pre-existing condition called antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS), a disease that can cause blood clots that ultimately contributed to his death.

Tom Sparks was a recent graduate of USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Sadly, he was also a newlywed and had been married for just two months to his wife Kate, also a contestant on Wipeout, they were competing together on a couples episode.

“We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family,” ABC and production company Endemol said in a joint statement. “This is a tragic loss and our thoughts are with them at this time.”

How tragic! I hope ABC pays the widow handsomely because if they don't I'm sure they'll be sued.
