Doctors at the local hospital transferred him to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where doctors performed multiple brain surgeries to save his life. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful and Tom passed away on November 5th.
According to reports, Tom Sparks was found to be suffering from an undiagnosed pre-existing condition called antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS), a disease that can cause blood clots that ultimately contributed to his death.

Oh no! I hadn't heard of this. What a shame.
That's so sad.
How tragic! I hope ABC pays the widow handsomely because if they don't I'm sure they'll be sued.
