Four year old Marchella Pierce’s body was found on Sept. 2. After finding rope on the bed, and marks on Marchella’s ankles, investigators believe that the child had been tied up.
Marchella’s mother was arrested and charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child. According to WCAX, Brooklyn prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation of ACS, Administration for Children’s Services, the child welfare agency that was responsible for monitoring the four year old’s well being.
According to the Daily News, a case worker and a supervisor have both been suspended. Silive.com reported that ACS admits that their involvement was “woefully inadequate”, and that it appeared that months had gone by without a visit from Marchella’s assigned caseworker.
Marchella’s story was reported earlier by Ross Ellis, NY Domestic Violence & Abuse Examiner. Her article can be viewed here.
