Today (Nov. 1) a rep for actress/singer Zooey Deschanel confirmed to US Weekly that Deschanel and her husband of two years, Ben Gibbard have separated. The She & Him singer, and Death Cab For Cutie frontman married in late September 2009 near Seattle. The magazines source says the split is amicable, and there was no third party involved.
The two met via their mutual music manager three years ago. Between then and now Deschanel continued her movie career, launched a music career, and went on to star in her own television show, The New Girl. Gibbard's band Death Cab For Cutie released their seventh studio album, Codes and Keys in May of 2011, which led to touring in the fall of 2011.
Even if Gibbard and Deschanel are no longer making sweet music together, she is still creating music with her She & Him partner M. Ward. The two released the holiday themed album, A Very She & Him Christmas on Oct 25th via Merge Records. The album consists of twelve tracks and feature songs such as, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," and "Blue Christmas".
