The Dearborn Recreation and Parks Department's Senior Services Division will present its annual Health and Information Expo Thursday at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.
The free event will provide activities from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Hubbard Ballroom for seniors and “Seniors to Bee.” Raffle drawings will take place every 10 minutes.
The Oct. 24 event will feature more than 60 exhibitors (admission is free). What most want to know about them, when people contact the senior services office, Bechtal said, is whether any offer flu shots. The Henry Ford Health System will be making flu shots available (which will be covered by most insurance providers).
The Customs & Border Protection Canine Unit comes every year, she said, and the Border Patrol will be doing a presentation. Last year's exhibitor General Henry Quilting Club will be coming from the Dearborn Historical Museum again this year, Bechtal added. The Dearborn SWAT team is a newcomer, Bechtal said, and another new face will be the Valuland store that neighbors Aco.
Oakwood Community Health will provide free health screenings, and there will be free massages as well. Representatives from Wayne County Veterans Services, the Senior Alliance, Wayne County Elder Law and other agencies will offer information regarding wellness & health, police & fire safety, senior housing, caregivers, rehabilitation, banking, veteran's affairs, tennis, employment, home healthcare, Alzheimer's, city of Dearborn services, and more.
Henry Ford Village will provide light refreshments. Call (313) 943-2412 for more information.
