In a clear sign that there's a lot of misunderstanding about the gospel account of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, a Muslim parent is expressing concern that his child was invited to an Easter egg hunt.
Children in a Dearborn, Michigan elementary school received a flyer inviting them to an "EGGSTRAVAGANZA" to be held at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church. The flyer, adorned with eggs and bunnies promises an egg hunt, a relay race and an egg toss.
Scripture references to support the religious meaning behind the egg hunt were not included.
The school district spokesman, David Mustonen said that the flyer was given to students at three elementary schools. [MyFoxDetroit.com]
Majed Moughni, who is Muslim said "It really bothered my two kids. My son was like 'Dad, I really don't feel comfortable getting these flyers, telling me to go to church. I thought churches are not supposed to mix with schools.'" [Detroit Free Press]
Cherry Hill Pastor Neeta Nichols told Detroit Free Press, "It's designed to be an opportunity to come for a day of activity. There is not a relgious component to this event. Part of our ministry in Dearborn is to invite the community to let them know we're here. We're offering various kinds of programming, fun opportunities, so that we can be engaged with the community."
On Monday, April 21, 2014 The White House will host the 136th Annual Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn of The White House. The White House has not responded to questions asking if Obamacare will cover the trauma associated from children being exposed to eggs and bunnies.
