Dearborn Heights man confronts home invader

A young man in Dearborn Heights was surprised by a home invader this afternoon. WXYZ-TV reports that a burglar broke the glass on a sliding door with a crowbar to gain entrance to the home located in the 20000 block of Williamsburg, near Evergreen. The noise of the breaking glass woke up one of the homes’ residents who confronted the invader in the hallway of his home.

The 21-year-old male was sleeping when he was woken by the invader. He was concerned about the additional members of his family that may have been in the home at the time of the intrusion, so he complied with the demands of the invader. The invader hit the young man, asked about "the money" and then forced the young man into the basement where he proceeded to look behind the washer and dryer.

The intruder failed to find what he was looking for and then left on foot without taking anything from the home. The family is not aware of what the man thought was in their basement. They have resided in the home for about a year.

Dearborn Heights Police are looking for the intruder who is described as an Arabic male in his early 20’s, about 5'6" tall with a thin build wearing all black clothing and a beanie.

If anyone has information about this intruder, you are urged to call Dearborn Heights Police at 313-277-7414.
