Berwyn Director Christine Sickle said that 48 tables for vendors will be set up for the flea market from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. She said the center has held flea markets previously, but as Berwyn Center's new director, this Oct. 25-26 one will be her first.
“I'm excited by all the vendors who have come out, and look forward to a fun couple of days for everyone,” Sickle said. “This is a big fundraiser for the center.”
Just some of the items up for sale in Berwyn on Friday and Saturday, she said, are handmade potholders, Tastefully Simple gourmet foods, jewelry, clothing, Avon, baked goods, and miscellaneous household items. Sickle noted one vendor will be selling photography.
“Did I mention we've also got lots of books?” Sickle said. “We've also got yarn, which people like.”
The proceeds from renting the vendors' tables will go to the senior center. Also, Sickle mentioned that the center will be selling hot dogs, sloppy joes, doughnuts, chips, cookies, pop and water; in addition to many items donated to the center from the community. She said the proceeds from these sales will go directly into the center fund.
There is no admission charge, Sickle said, and the center will provide toys, puzzles, and books to entertain the children of shoppers.
