Today I am writing a letter to my teenage self. What would I say to myself as a teenager if I could go back in time and talk to her... WOW! There is a lot I would tell her yet I do not really want to change anything that happened.
It would be easy to say DON'T say yes to the marriage proposal, but then I would not have my beautiful boys. It would be easy for me to say stay at home for college, but then I would not have met their Dad. It would be easy for me to say choose another job in high school and not work in retail, but then I would not have all the customer service experience to work at World Vision later on in life. It would be easy for me to say DON'T take that job as a Certified Nursing Assistant, but then I would have not learned all the skills for me to be able to help my dad as he got older and I would not have had the opportunity to work with a wonderful family in their home and bring my child to work with me. There are a lot of easy things to say to my teenage self, but it would dramatically change who I am right now. So what I am going to say is not that easy.
Dear Teenage Jeanie,
12/10/13 ( that is 2013)
Hi there! How are you doing? I am doing very well. Life is really good now. I am so excited to be writing you today! I have this blogging assignment.. Oh a blog is an online journal/scrapbook that you can share with people all over the world.. Oh online is the internet on the computer you can type letters on it (which we call e-mails) and send it wirelessly just like voice is carried over the cell phone, a cell phone is a wireless phone you no longer need the phone lines to connect!! Technology is moving fast, there are so many really neat tools that are being developed to make things easier if you do not allow it to consume your daily life.
Anyways I am suppose to write a letter to you and let you know something that I think you should know. I contemplated over a lot of things and it took me a long time to choose exactly what I was going to say.
As a tear rolls down my cheek, I want to tell you that you are beautiful. As a smile begins to appear on my face I want to tell you that you are a very smart individual. As I look around at what I see now I want to tell you that you can do anything that you set your mind to and that you do not need to listen to those who are around you. And now that I have been on this earth for 36 years I want to tell you that you are special just the way you are and not to be afraid to be you.
It is these four things that I want you to hold onto every day! It is these four things that you cannot forget. There is so much I want to tell you, but I am not going to ruin it for you. That would be like Forrest telling you the end of the movie before you get a chance to watch it... (yes he still does this)
I love you.
a latte of blessings & giggles to you, ( a latte is a really yummy coffee drink, yes you will love coffee you do not have to drink it black like Dad does)
P.S. You do not have to use that much Hairspray, throw away the neon colored leggings and stop saying "like
What would you tell your teenage self?
