Dear Kitten: Adorable 'Dear Kitten' ad has elder cat showing kitten the ropes

A “Dear Kitten” ad, almost three minutes in length, is essentially a commercial for Friskies cat food, but the cute commercial has gone viral, with over 5 million views thus far. In the ad, an older and wiser cat sits atop the household furniture and doles out sage advice to the newest family member – a rambunctious and inexperienced kitten.

According to the Inquisitr, the “humorous portrayal of an older cat welcoming the next generation into his home” is so well done, it seems like we are watching a short documentary – until we get to the sales pitch at the end of the video. But by that time, we’ve been so enamored by the cuteness (and the fact that we all know the Internet was designed for adorable cat videos), that we are likely on our way to buy some Friskies at this very moment.

An excerpt from the beginning of the video:

Since I have hissed at you the customary 437 times, it is now my duty as the head of the household to, begrudgingly, welcome you. Perhaps you are here to replace me but I must do my duty in educating you on your new surroundings as Maximilian once did for me. Rest in peace.

Dear kitten, this room here is basically a crap shoot. Either you get the petting of your life, and I mean two hands like you don’t even know what’s going on, or they just lie there and don’t do anything for hours, it’s weird. Oh, and I should point out, on special occasions they will leave the underwear drawer to signal their appreciation of me. Just to be clear, it’s my spot. It’s perfect in there. It’s like sleeping surrounded by underwear. Well, that’s exactly what it is.

In the short film, in which Friskies did with BuzzFeed, the elder cat goes on to give guidance on all things cat-related, including some hilarious advice on that little red laser pointer spot, which, according to the older feline, “can be caught.”

Enjoy and share!
