Howard has been on every one's list especially Jordan's, and Monday night could prove to be a big man battle between the two friends in the paint.
“He’s definitely moving around a lot better than he was last year,” Jordan said. “I feel like he slimmed down a lot. I was watching a couple of their games and you can just tell that last year was still a little stiff and his back was giving him some problems."
DeAndre Jordan has also stepped up tremendously on both sides of the floor and elevated his confidence in Doc Rivers system, thus far this season.
Jordan has more responsibility this season than any other time in his 161 games played at center under the Rivers administration. With a bigger role unlike before, Jordan's biggest test will come at the hands of a healthy Howard and testy Rockets team led by James Harden.
Head Coach Doc Rivers is fully aware of Howard's healthy ways and change of environment, and careful to not overlook the obvious.
"When you’re coming off an injury, no matter who you are you still question what you can do as far as athletically and then that affects your confidence,” said Rivers.
The dynamic duo for the Clippers known as Jordan and Blake Griffin will have a huge challenge against Howard and another 7 footer in Omer Asik.
Jordan is definitely looking forward to the challenge against the Rockets.
“We’re definitely going to run them and I’m pretty sure they’re going to want to bang and things that we’re accustomed to. We definitely want to try to get those guys in as many pick-and-rolls as possible and run them as much as we can. Those guys are pretty athletic but we want to definitely use our speed and agility as an advantage.”
The Clippers have their work cut out for them during a tough stretch beginning Monday night at Staples Center against the Rockets. The team goes on the road to face the world champion Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and a rematch on Saturday in Houston against the Rockets.
Regardless Jordan and the Clippers are looking forward to the challenge, and are playing with extreme confidence and control on the court.
