The “Two Deans”: Dean Torrence and actor Bruce Davison (who played Torrence in the 1978 CBS TV movie Deadman’s Curve) reunited at a recording studio in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 5. The occasion marked a recording session for the song “Shrewd Awakening” (written by Gary Griffin and David Beard), which is to be featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming motion picture Return Of The Killer Shrews. Davison co-stars in this 50 years later sequel to the 1959 cult classic Killer Shrews, alongside original star James Best. Best – widely known for his portrayal as inept county sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on the long-running television show Dukes of Hazzard – is joined by Hazzard alumnists John Schneider (Bo Duke) and Rick Hurst (Deputy Cletus Hogg) in the film. Also present at the session were Dean’s daughters Katie and Jillian (who are featured prominently on the track), Beard and the film’s director, Steve Latshaw. A great time was had by all, especially when Bruce broke into impromptu versions of “Jenny Lee” and “Linda.” Return Of The Killer Shrews is due for release in 2012.
