Angie’s List is a website founded by Angie Hicks and Bill Oesterle, and is an online directory of service providers and health care professionals and ratings by customers. Membership to Angie’s List is normally $39 a year, but with the Spring 2014 promotion, the first year membership can be reduced to $7.19. Here is how to get the spring promotion:

Go to AngiesList.com

Enter your zip code to verify that Angie’s List serves your geographic area

Choose the one-year introductory pricing of $14.99 (regular price is $39)

Enter promo code SPRING2014 and watch the price reduce to $8.99

To save another 20%, PayPal is required. This will bring the total to $7.19

Accounts are automatically renewed, so make a note to cancel auto-renewal in 2015 if you don’t want to pay the $39 fee next year.

Angie’s List boats “honest reviews on over 720 local services.” Clients believe the directory helps them hire right the first time, avoid wasting money on scam artists, and avoid wasting time on unreliable companies. Contractors have a bad reputation for being late or not showing up for scheduled work, and Angie’s List allows clients to read reviews about service contractors before choosing who will do the work.

Service providers range from plumbers, electricians, landscaping companies, mechanics, health care providers, even dog sitters and pooper-scooper services. Reviews cannot be anonymous and every review is verified to make sure it isn't being made by a company in the directory, or a competitor trying to sabotage another company. Clients can search the website for service providers, email an inquiry, or call a toll-free number and talk to a real person.

Angie Hicks has been featured on The Today Show, in USA Today, Fox and Friends, and on Huffington Post.
