A deaf man was stabbed several times because a man thought he was displaying gang signs, according to police in North Carolina.
This victim, Terrance Ervin Daniels, was communicating through sign language with another deaf man when he was attacked.
Burlington Police Sgt. Mark Yancey explained that on Wednesday this third person assumed the two men were “flashing gang signs.” That was when he decided to stabbed Daniels with a kitchen knife.
“A neighbor saw the victim and called emergency personnel.” Daniels is now recovering at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Police have arrested 22-year Robert Jarell Neal, charging him with assault with a deadly weapon, along with other charges.
“He's being held in the Alamance County jail.”
