Deadspin decided to make it personal against Cincinnati. On Thursday, the website named the best and worst food products based on their city. For instance, anyone from Maryland knows not to speak ill of the Maryland crab cake.
In Chicago, nothing beats the famous Chicago Deep Dish style pizza. Maryland crab cakes and Chicago style pizza ranked highly as America’s favorites.
Then Deadspin saved the worst for last—Skyline Chili. Anyone familiar with Cincinnati knows that Cincinnatians hold some things sacred. These would be (not in any particular order): Cincinnati Reds baseball, Pete Rose’s MLB hitting record, Graeter’s Ice Cream, Montgomery Inn ribs and Skyline Chili.
The article called Skyline Chili “horrifying diarrhea sludge,” and “the worst, saddest, most depressing g*****n thing in the world.”
After bashing Skyline, the article threw the Buckeye state under the bus with another personal attack:
“The people of Ohio see nothing wrong with inserting it into their mouths (Skyline Chili), which perhaps tells you everything you need to know about the Buckeye State. Don't eat it. Don't let your loved ones eat it.”
