Deadly Everglades invader: Burmese pythons being hunted (Video)

There is a deadly Everglades invader known as the Burmese python. According to WTRV, in a report dated Jan. 13, this deadly Everglades invader is being hunted for the first time in Florida.

Almost 800 people have signed up to hunt the deadly Everglades invader. They are competing for cash prizes. Prizes will be given to the hunter to brings in the longest Burmese python and whoever catches the most pythons. The hunters are from over 30 different states.

The deadly Everglades invader is believed to be destroying the ecosystem in Florida. Burmese pythons are illegal to bring into the United States. The “Python Challenge” is being implemented in hopes of protecting the delicate ecosystem in the Everglades as well as people and their pets.

Eight years ago, a 17-foot Burmese python was found dead. The deadly Everglades invader had burst open. It had attempted to eat an alligator, which is native to the Florida Everglades.

The Burmese python is known as the "deadly Everglades invader" and is being hunted by hundreds.

In the past 13 years, over 2,000 pythons have been harvested in the state of Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is hoping that the Burmese python hunt will reduce the python's population in the Everglades.
