First deadline nears in benefit for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver

Additional opportunities to win await participants this year in the fifth annual dream house raffle benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, said a spokeswoman for the nonprofit on Tuesday Feb. 19.

Deadline for the first of three early bird drawings will be Friday Feb. 22. The drawing will be 3:30 p.m. March 6 at the William E Cope Boys & Girls Club, 808 Inca St. Deadline for the second drawing will be March 22, and for the third early bird drawing, on April 19. The second and third drawings will be held April 3 and May 1, respectively.

“It’s a fun way to get involved with the boys and girls clubs and possibly win some great prizes,” said Laura Graham, marketing and communications coordinator for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. More than 300 prizes will be awarded this year, bringing the odds of winning to one in 183.

The grand prize is a $3.25 million house in the Cherry Creek neighborhood or $2 million in cash. The 7,400 square-foot custom house has five bedrooms, five baths and is located in a gated community. It has a gourmet chef’s kitchen with stainless steel Viking appliances and a baby grand. The master bedroom has a fireplace with an adjoining breakfast alcove, as well as a game room, theater, library, workout room and custom temperature-controlled wine cellar. The home is occupied, so no tours will be given, said Graham.

The first prize of the early bird drawing is $25,000. Second prize is $10,000 and third prize, $5,000.

Multi-ticket holders will vie for a $40,000 or a 2013 Mercedes SLK 250. The second prize is $10,000 or a vacation to Italy. The third prize is $5,000 or a Hawaiian vacation.

To keep up with an expanding need, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver have plans to open two new clubs, bringing the total to 15, said Graham. This summer, the organization will open its first club in the Park Hill area.

It also plans on building a stand-alone club in Commerce City , in the area of the old greyhound racing track. It would replace a club housed in a nearby school and would double the capacity. It is slated to open in 2014.
