The deadline for submitting candidate applications for the May 2013 election is rapidly approaching. Applications must be turned in by Friday, March 21 at 5pm. The election will be held on Tuesday, May 21. The full list of open positions for Washington County is available here. Though these positions are not glamorous, they are key to day-to-day operations of various agencies in the county, in such locations as water districts, fire districts, school boards, and parks and recreation districts, and holders of these positions impact residents more directly than positions like state representative or governor.
The necessary forms can be downloaded from the Secretary of State's office here, and manuals on campaign finance and how to be a candidate are available here. Once you have the form completed, return it to the Washington County Assessment and Taxation Department Elections Division at 3700 SW Murray Blvd, Suite 101 before the deadline this Friday.
