NEWBURGH, NY -- Restaurateurs who can't meet the December 31 deadline for participating in the 2012 Hudson Valley Restaurant Week can relax. The deadline has been extended to January 16.
This year, the promotional event had 160 participating restaurants and drew an estimated 200,000 diners.
Lonely Planet, the travel guide publisher, recently named the event one of its top 10 travel destinations for 2012, describing the Hudson Valley as "a real city break, with leafy drives, wineries and plenty of farm-to-table foodie options."
During the March 18-31 event -- actually two weeks despite the title, participating restaurants will offer prix fixe thtree-course menus at $29.95 (beverage tax and tip not included). Many also will offer special three-course lunches at $20.95.
