To catch up on all the drama, Discovery will air a special recap episode of "Deadliest Catch" on Tuesday, April 15 (9 p.m.). Also returning this season is "The Bait," a series of one-hour pre-game shows, beginning on April 22 (8 p.m.). "The Bait" gives an inside look at "Deadliet Catch" as the captains talk fishing, drama and what to expect on that night's episode .

As new season opens, politics have an adverse effect on the industry. The government shutdown in Washington D.C brings the industry to a screeching halt just as fishing season starts. The far reaching effects of the shutdown on the Beltway include a late start of the fishing season, meaning that the captains have to make up for lost time or suffer big financial losses. The stress may cause everyone to push too hard and opens up even more possiblities of accidents and injury in an already dangerous occupation.

Drama hitting the Bering Sea this season includes a boat in flames, a boat running aground, a captain ending up in rehab and another winding up in a hospital, according to information from Discovery.

The late Capt. Phil Harris brought notoriety and respect to the industry and to the fishermen who risk their lives in one of the most dangerous jobs around. Captain of the Cornelia Marie, Harris suffered an stroke onboard his ship in 2010 and died several days later. Deadliest Catch episodes pay tribute to Capt. Phil Harris

Phil's son, Josh Harris, is returning as captain and owner of his father's boat the Cornelia Marie, hoping to continue his dad's legacy and create one of his own? Jake Harris will not be on the show this season.

There are also big changes on the horizon for the F/V Northwestern. Capt. Sig Hansen's daughter Mandy (18) joins the ranks as deckhand. The profession typically dominated by men, but Mandy claims that crab fishing is her birthright. Working for family can have it drawbacks, so it will be interesting to see if Sig treat her just like one of the crew?

."Deadliest Catch" is produced for Discovery Channel by Original Productions, a Fremantle Media company. For Original Productions, Executive Producers are Thom Beers, Jeff Conroy and John Gray.
