'Dead Space 4' cancellation rumors continue to go unaddressed by EA

Over the weekend, rumors started circulating via an anonymous source that video game publisher EA had pulled the plug on any development of a “Dead Space 4”. The source reportedly told VideoGamer.com that due to a failure to meet their target sales on “Dead Space 3”, currently available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, they would no longer be working on a fourth title in the series. On March 5, a spokesperson for EA has finally reached out to the press with the following statement in regards to the rumors, though how well they've addressed it is still open to debate:

"While we have not announced sales for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the game and the franchise remains an important IP to EA."

Although this statement addresses that sales figures have not been released for “Dead Space 3”, the failure to address whether or not “Dead Space 4” has been cancelled is highly suspect. Could this all just be EA’s skillful way of avoiding the subject before making any official announcement on the status of a future game?

Whatever the case, the rumor remains as such—speculation and no more—until we get an official confirmation or denial on behalf of Electronic Arts.
