The official “Dead Space” Twitter account announced yesterday that Awakened, the first DLC add-on for “Dead Space 3,” will be releasing next week on March 12. The Awakened DLC looks like it might bring some terror back into the third installment of the horror franchise by pitting players against an insane cult.
“Dead Space 3” puts gamer back in the role of Isaac Clarke as he must once again battle the Necromorphs in order to survive. Instead of fighting in deep space inside of the cold steel hull of a spaceship, “Dead Space 3” places Isaac on the surface of a planet for the first time. The ice-world of Tau Volantis will give fans a stark change of setting. Gone are the dark and tight hallways. In the game, players are also given the option to play alongside a co-op partner for the first time inside new bright tundra environments full of blinding snow, avalanches, and caverns in this new frozen planet infested with Necromophs.
“Dead Space 3” is out now on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Awakened, the game's first DLC, releases on March 12.
