Both Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 feature six different endings that players can experience depending on the choices they make in the game. For Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One, Capcom could feature as many as ten according to an interview with producer Mike Jones released Friday.
"I think typically we've always had about somewhere between six and 10, something like that," Jones told OXM UK at Gamescom. "There's a handful of branching points that make a significant difference, and whether you're able to play beyond the normal timeline or not."
Yes, that means the return of Overtime mode for Dead Rising 3. Once players complete a certain number of objectives in the game, they are given the option to keep playing and get the ending that explains everything.
"Previous Dead Risings would always have modes like the Overtime mode, where you get to discover the truth behind everything that's been going on," Jones said. "So there's not just the six days, we're going beyond that if you make the right story decisions. So it's not like choose-your-own-adventure crazy infinite endings, there's a finite amount, but they all [correspond to] meaningful story decisions that you make as you play through."
Dead Rising 3 features a new hero in mechanic Nick Ramos who is trying to survive and escape a massive zombie outbreak in the fictional city of Los Perdidos. He's only got a few days to get out of town though as the military plans to nuke the city to wipe out the zombies and whatever secrets are behind the outbreak.
