Capcom Vancouver is focusing on removing the franchise’s established constraints, such as demanding time schedules and limited save locations, within Dead Rising 3 in order to create a more enjoyable experience for all. In a report by OXM on Sept 5, however, the developer revealed that they understand that there are fans that liked these mechanics and are implementing a Nightmare Mode specifically for those players.
Nightmare Mode will do more than simply bring back the classic style of saving and timed missions from previous Dead Rising titles though. Dead Rising 3 Producer Mike Jones told OXM that, with the new challenging difficulty mode, the upcoming installment of the zombie franchise will be “the most difficult Dead Rising game we’ve ever made.”
Cranking up the game’s difficulty won’t be an exercise in patience as gamers merely experience the title’s undead masses scaled up in power. Capcom Vancouver actually hopes to make Nightmare Mode more challenging through player tactics and choice rather than cheap in-game mechanics that rely on over-powered enemies or inferior survivor A.I.
Dead Rising 3 is a next-gen launch exclusive for Microsoft’s Xbox One.
