Horror gamers have been eagerly drooling over news about Dead Island: Riptide, the follow-up title to 2011's gruesomely successful Dead Island. And much like the zombies depicted in the game, developer Deep Silver has thrown out a freshly mangled torso for fans to bite into.
No, literally, they're throwing out torsos.
Packshots released today show the ghastly 31 cm tall statue included in the aptly-named "Zombie Bait" collector's edition, revealing the chewed-up torso of one of the islands less fortunate denizens. The statues are molded from high-quality resin, and the design will vary from country to country.
"Dead Island Riptide is one of the most anticipated releases of the year and is set to build on the original’s reputation for OTT action, dark humour and brutal zombie bashing. We wanted to provide a unique collector’s edition that was utterly ‘Dead Island’ and would make a striking conversation piece on any discerning zombie gamer’s mantel." -Paul Nicholls, Sales & Marketing Director of Deep Silver
In order to keep the Zombie Bait edition a collector's item, Deep Silver is making a very limited run of the sets, ensuring hardcore horror gamers are getting a rare and valuable piece of frightening memorabilia. Also included in the kit are an exclusive steelbook case, horrifying artwork cards, and a download voucher for an exclusive in-game weapon pack.
Dead Island: Riptide will launch April 23rd, and it's a safe bet to say Zombie Bait editions will be sold out that day.
