Dead Horse Trauma headlines the re-opening of Hull Avenue Tavern on Jan. 18

The Hull Avenue Tavern (834 Hull Avenue in Des Moines) is scheduled to re-open after a remodel on January 17. The next day, on Friday the 18th, the tavern will celebrate their re-opening with a concert featuring Des Moines metal bands Absolute Power, Mars on Fire, and headliner Dead Horse Trauma. The show will also feature an appearance by the Miller Lite Girls. The show is free and open to anyone over 21 years of age.

Metal band Absolute Power's lineup contains members of Pushing Earth. The band has played shows with the likes of national touring bands Soulfly and Incite and locals Painface and Murder Earth. The band is currently working on a 6-song EP that they hope to release before summer.

Rock/metal band Mars on Fire got their start in the fall of 2010. The band consists of former members of Heroic Dose, The Gauged, Jimi Pig, and Cannot Justify. Mars on Fire has shared the stage with bands like Cold, Mushroomhead, Kill Devil Hill, and Smile Empty Soul. They have released three singles and are working on their first full-length studio album.

Dead Horse Trauma was started by Eric Davidson and Matt Wingerter in 2006. The debut EP The Unmerciful Infliction followed shortly thereafter. The band released their first full album, Infestation, in 2010. The band's latest effort, Tellus Hodiernus Caducus, is in stores now. DHT has shared the stage with bands like Three Days Grace, Alice Cooper, Seether, Papa Roach, and Skillet. Check out music from the band in the nearby video.
