Dead End Amelia was alive and well at Hemingway’s Bar & Lounge, on Mar. 5. Armada and Sad Robot were the opening acts.
Dean Dichoso is the guitarist and backup vocalist, Will Dorsey is the drummer, Diego Ruelas is the bassist and Krista Lee is the guitarist and vocalist of Dead End Amelia. Jesse Anatole, guitarist of Harlequin Jones, accompanied them on guitar.
Kicking off Dead End Amelia’s set was an instrumental introduction, as Lee stood and faced Dorsey. The sound was quite similar to A Perfect Circle’s “Judith”. She turned around and greeted the audience, before unleashing vocals from the low-lit stage with “Wasted Light”.
After the highly-energized “Wasted Light”, Lee asked if everyone in attendance was still out there and was welcomed with a loud response. Afterwards, she took time to introduce Dead End Amelia to the listeners and went onto mention how long it had been since they graced a stage. They continued their set with “Behold, The Liar”. Dichoso provided backup vocals and followed with a lengthy guitar solo.
Following “Behold, The Liar”, Lee greeted and thanked everyone for attending the Dead End Amelia concert on a Tuesday night. Then, she introduced the next song, “So We”. She said it was on their most recent album release, “The Sound of Awakening”. She took to the performance beyond the stage, as she walked part of the perimeter of the stage. She interacted with a fan and requested a drink. Her friend, Tony, assisted her with one and called him a life saver.
When “Behold, The Liar” came to an end, Lee mentioned a music video was available for “Better Off This Way”. It had made its debut on YouTube, on Valentine’s Day. During the performance, she clapped her hands above her head to the rhythm of Dorsey’s drum beats. The spectators soon caught on and they clapped along with her.
“Better Off This Way” was the last song of their set and Lee went onto say she recognized some familiar faces in attendance. She thanked them for sticking beside them through the years and meeting new friends, at the venue. Afterwards, she mentioned they had stickers to give away and t-shirts for sale. After they cleared the stage, she said they would be available to interact with their fans and for them to visit their website. Then, she gave their set list to a fan in attendance.
