Breakthrough news. About 400,000 people get Bell Palsy each year according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Bell Palsy is sudden onset facial paralysis that can result in permanent paralysis or just a few months of time. In a new study in Traditional Chinese Medicine de qi acupuncture is working to stimulate the sensations of soreness, tingling, warmth and coolness.
In acupuncture the idea is to stimulate the qi which plays a pivotal role in the healing response
Patients facial nerves and facial expression functions showed a marked improvement and their quality of life improved which was consistent with the therapy they were receiving. Strong intensity of de qi showed the best results. Most clinical trial don’t measure qi or the outcome of qi so the outcomes have been previously unknown. Di qi scales are being developed to standardize uniformity it tests.
De qi and its techniques should be considered for other illnesses and diseases
