As the DC Accessories Examiner, I am a fervent believer that accessories are what complete an outfit. The right accessories (like a flashy cocktail ring with a simple tee and jeans combo) can turn a ho-hum ensemble into something fresh and modern.
With October just around the corner, scarves, gloves and hats will take the front seat for accessory must-haves.
DC-based accessories line De*Nada (as mentioned here) specializes in handmade knits for women and men that are perfect for the months ahead.
The 2010 autumn and winter knit collection features scarves in the current silhouettes of the season, cowls and eternals. Each piece is inspired by designer Virginia Arrisueno's Peruvian heritage and crafted using traditional methods of crocheting, knitting, and braiding.
"I wanted to create pieces that are trendy, stylish and timeless," says Arrisueno.
The new collection's color palette features striking shades of black, white, dark khaki and dark purple. The unique unisex pieces include scarves with zippers and hooded cowls.
De*Nada recently launched a "Form & Function" video series that highlights six scarves from the collection. These step-by-step tutorials feature the following: the Braided Roped, the Cowl, the Eternal, the Fringed Shawl, the Hooded Cowl and the Zip scarf.
